"Biting into bread is a very common violation of table manners, and slices of bread should not be cut into sections. When the bread is passed, it is placed on the bread-and-butter plate. No slice should be buttered all at once. The correct way is to break off a small portion of bread as needed and to butter  that portion before eating it."

"It is not correct for a lady traveling alone on a boat to associate promiscuously with the male passengers."
